From his Detroit R&B roots with Bootsy Collins, Parliament/Funkadelic, George Clinton, and Zapp, John Jaszcz has used his renowned skills and unique sound to establish himself as a world-class mixing engineer.
Through his early work with Gospel great Fred Hammond (Commisioned) and the legendary Thomas Whitfield, the country music masters of Nashville recognized his value, and gave him the opportunity to move to the Music City and work with such artists as Billy Ray Cyrus, and have multi-platinum success with John Michael Montgomery.
Never shy of expanding his horizons, Yosh has enjoyed working with urban, jazz, and pop records as well. In recent years much of his work is mixing Gospel music. That amazing Detroit funk has translated to 5 Grammy Award winning projects with Kirk Franklin, Hezekiah Walker, The Clark Sisters, and Israel Houghton. He has also contributed to numerous albums with artists such as: Kurt Carr, Ledisi, Donald Lawrence, CeCe Winans, Tye Tribbett, Myron Butler, and many more.
In the past few years the idea of developing talent in young artists has become a passion for him. “During my career I have been really fortunate to be part of many successful records and I have a real desire to take what I have learned and do that for someone just starting out.” Recently, he has teamed with a pool of young producers calling themselves Zod Lounge (www.zodlounge.com) as well as his friend singer/songwriter John Lawry. The two Johns recently teamed to put a record together for worship leader Tommee Profitt, satisfying his urge to develop talent. For Yosh, artist development feels like the natural evolution in a career punctuated by many awards and accolades. Reflecting on his long career, he says that he really values the relationships he has developed with producers over the years such as Kurt Carr, Mano Hanes, and Aaron Lindsey. “It is so exciting for me to watch these ridiculously talented musicians blossom into extraordinary producers. I am honored to just be in the room!” He mentions that he recently completed a project for Marvin Sapp under the watchful eye of producer Aaron Lindsey. “That is a great record; it is really going to make people stop and listen.”
In 2009, Yosh opened his own studio which allows him to offer more competitive rates for independent artists (www.frenchbeachstudio.com). “I just want to continue to work on quality stuff. This gives me another tool to make sure I can do that.”
